How does a Solar PV (Photovoltaic) system work?
Photovoltaic cell converts the light ('photo') into electricity (‘voltaic’).
Solar PV system generates electricity from sunlight and not from heat. Too much of heat will not produce electricity, its need proper light with minimum level of humidity.
The main components of a Solar Photovoltaic system are:
Solar Panels: Solar panels consist of a group of small cells made from semiconductor material –Silicon. ( Silicon is the most common material used in solar cells, representing approximately 90% of the modules sold today.)
When the sun light falls on the modules, it excites the electrons, thereby creating direct current (DC).
Solar Inverter converts the DC electricity into alternating current (AC) and is fed to the grid or the load.
